Devo, Jocko Homo:

In this video, they put an alarm and a man dressed in orange running at the beginning. It gives the impression that he was escaping from jail because of the alarm they set or that the man was fleeing from someone. They then put that same man going up the stairs, handing a paper to a general state official, and talking about a law. From there, the music video begins, and everyone begins to sing the word Devo. The music video uses piano and guitar a lot. They use these two instruments to make different wave sounds and tonalities between these two instruments. Also, the sounds look like a mix between punk and techno music. The music video is old and wants to make it seem like they are meeting that they are discussing something important. People seem dressed as if they are scientists. The man who sings is not understood much since he has a high voice. The part that I understand the most is the part of the choir, who says: “Are we not a man? We are Devo”. I imagine that Devo means devolution. The boy means that we are not men; we are something lower than men; we are monkeys. We move like monkeys, and we talk like monkeys. The author of this video takes away and devalues the value of the human being and compares it with an animal that has a much lower level than that of humans. This old video does not urge me to see something in a new way. When they begin giving you history in school, they tell you that the human being comes from the monkeys. And sometimes I do since many humans act like animals instead of thinking about the consequences.
This video is well created for the time it was, the images are well provided, and the sound is upbeat, punk with techno together.
